Ever since I was fourteen, I’ve felt fourteen. Whether it’s cooking marshmallows on a school camp, cooking two-minute noodles at college, or cooking cupcakes with our kids, my mind has always been the same age. Where I’m at in life might change, but ultimately I still feel like a 14-year-old who wants to be liked and thinks fifty is old.
That’s where I’ll be in ten years time. FIFTY. Fourteen in a 50 year-old’s body. (Oh, can we not?)
I’ll still be dumping clean washing on the couch, sweeping up peas from under the stools at the bench and running our kids to things. Then driving home trying to hold back tears and reassuring myself that they need to learn how to fly, when all I want to do is tuck them back under my wing.
That’s today’s prompt in Clairey Hewitt‘s I’m Blogging Every Day in May! challenge: ‘In ten years time I will be…’. Where will you be?
I’ll be a 25 year old stuck on a 50 year old body hopefully no longer sweeping up peas.

Yes hopefully the esca-peas stop by then or at least someone else has the chore of sweeping the floor. Thanks for commenting 🙂

We seem to have the same couch! Maybe in ten years we can get the kids to fold it before they sit on it.

I’m sure they’ll be laying on it and I’ll have to tip the washing on the spare bed instead.

I am still stuck in my teenage body and my boys tell me I look like a teenager lol…because I don’t dress like a lady maybe.

Thanks Trish. What a bonus being a teenager inside a body that your kids think looks look a teenager! Sounds like a dream… 🙂

I know, I KNOW I’ll lament them growing their wings but why do I feel like throwing my kids out of the nest some days?
Will we really still be cleaning up peas in 10 years? I can’t take it no more….

That’s funny, Angie! Sometimes I think the same when I’ve just finished sweeping and Maeve empties all the sand out of her gumboot inside the back porch. There’s no end to the housework, but there’s also no end to the joy so that makes it easier! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I will be 46 & my 3 boys in their teens!! I might hide away in my lady cave while they grow up, I still think I am in my mid to late 20’s but I have noticed that the ageing process has started to take its toll…xx

A house full of teenagers – lucky you feel mid-late 20s rather than a teenager yourself!
